Golden Gate City survived the Civil War Depression, and public reference to it continues until the 1870s, when a distant photo shows two or three buildings still standing there. Golden Gate City has now faded away, with the historic Brunel place, built in 1890, taking its place. The Golden Gate Canyon Road that Daniel McCleery built is still used by many vehicles today, and its original entrance though no longer part of the highway is now called Copper Bucket Lane, leading to the Brunel homes.
